We're searching for a passionate and professional head chef to run our Iso Omena restaurant together with it's restaurant manager Maija. We want you to lead a solid team in your restaurant taking care of the staff and operations. You already have some experience as a team leader, you understand the cost structure of a restaurant, you are eager to set targets and coach your staff to reach and exceed the set targets.
You have mastered the craft of making sushi and preparing fish and you work on your skills continuously. You lead by example cheering your team on and work side by side with your staff. Your smile doesn't fade even in the busiest moments and the customer experience is always your priority. You are hardworking and motivated and constantly want to evolve and improve as a team leader. You also want your team to make progress and become as great as they can in their work! You are empathic and friendly, and adjust the way you work to suit the needs of your customers and employees. You solve problems independently but are not afraid to ask for help when you need it. You’ll work closely with the Head of Kitchen Operations and other Finnish team leaders.
Your tasks as a head chef will include at least:
- Responsible for kitchen personnel in the restaurant
- Taking care of staff at your location: schedules for kitchen, sick leaves, recruiting with the head of kitchen operations and talent coordinator, contracts, training kitchen staff, acting as team leader
- Guidelines for daily routines
- Responsible for the product and quality in your own unit
- Self monitoring plans (omavalvontasuunnitelma)
- Orders and stock value
- Responsible for kitchen financial targets in own unit

Your home unit would be in our restaurant in Iso Omena, Espoo. Your contract starts upon agreement, but to be honest, we would like to see you making something beautiful out of fish as soon as possible.

About Sushibar+Wine
Handmade, sustainable, nordic.
This is carbon neutral sushi, handmade from fresh, certified and sustainable ingredients. Pair with organic wine and some friends for an enhanced experience.
We were born in Helsinki and nearly a decade later, after building a steady foundation, we grew Nordic! Our twin city strategy became a reality, when two new restaurants in Oslo opened their doors in 2020 and joined our five existing ones in Helsinki. Moving closer to our most important ingredient, sustainably grown Norwegian salmon, was also something we were extremely passionate about.
To maximize taste and minimize waste, we made all orders handmade à la minute out of fresh and sustainable ingredients. We believe that people, planet and profit all fit in the same sentence. We are proud of our co-operation with WWF and design companies Artek and Marimekko.
